Other Years Veggies

Bush Early GirlBush Early Girl
”Little sister” to Early Girl, this variety will surprise you with its huge yields on such small plants. 6 to 7 oz. fruit is larger than that of Early Girl and has a good flavor. Gardeners in short-season areas should be sure to try this one, which has even more disease resistance than the original. Compact determinate. 54 days.
White BeautyWhite Beauty
Creamy white color inside and outside make White Beauty a rarity. Extremely mild and sweet because of a high sugar content. Fruits average 8 ounces and are quite meaty with few seeds. Indeterminate. 85 days.
Orange StrawberryOrange Strawberry
This is a large, beautiful orange oxheart-type fruit that is shaped like a strawberry. The size is many times larger, though, with fruit ranging from 8 ozs. to 1 lb. The color is not just orange, but it is an intense and very deeply colored orange both inside and out. Flavor is also outstanding, exceptionally rich and sweet with just the right amount of acid. Excellent yields, especially for an oxheart variety. Indeterminate. 80 days.
Green ZebraGreen Zebra

Black RussianBlack Russian
Compact plants bear plenty of wonderfully rich, dark mahogany-brown tomatoes that average about 4 ozs. Fruit is smooth and somewhat elongated with a pointed tip; in fact, this variety is what some gardeners grew as Black Prince years ago. Black tomatoes have a delicious blend of sugar and acid and a distinctive, complex flavor that is to be savored. Some folks say this variety is one of the best-tasting black tomatoes and prefer it also for its nice, medium size. Russian heirloom. Indeterminate. 80-85 days.
Purple CalabashPurple Calabash
This is the most truly purple tomato we know, not just pink-purple, but it is deep purple-burgundy. It is also uniquely shaped, extremely fluted and almost ruffled in appearance. Fruit is flattened, about 3 inches across, and flavor is described by some as distinctively winey and rich. Expect large harvests of this unusual and interesting tomato. Indeterminate. 80-90 days.
Moma MiaMoma Mia
This is one of the best paste tomatoes we know, primarily because it makes sauce so good and sweet that you wouldn’t even have to add flavoring to it. Tomatoes are large, at least 5 inches long, and shaped like a banana pepper with a pronounced tip on the bottom. Plants have wispy-type foliage, but are vigorous and very productive. The fruit has very few seeds and is extremely meaty with a rich, sweet flavor. Although they make outstanding sauce, these tomatoes are good enough to eat fresh. Heirloom variety originally from Poland. Indeterminate. 75 days.
Grape TomatoGrape Tomato
Long, grape-like clusters of brilliant red elongated cherry tomatoes have earned this variety its name. Very sweet, complex flavor is delicious and has made these tomatoes a favorite of people everywhere. In fact, pints of these become a popular supermarket item. Vigorous vines are very productive, but none of these delectable little morsels will go to waste. Their taste is addictive! Crack-resistant and tolerant to heat and a number of tomato diseases. Indeterminate. 55 days.

Habanero (Red)Habanero (Red)
This bright red version of Habanero is one hot pepper - a staggering 285,000 Scoville Units! The fruit shape and size are much like the regular Habanero, wrinkled 1 inch to 1-1/2 inch long peppers with a tapered end. These peppers turn a brilliant red upon maturity and grow in abundance on 3-1/2 foot tall plants. Hot enough to suit even the most dedicated chile lover. 90 to 100 days.
Kung PaoKung Pao
Wonderful new oriental hot peppers just right for making Kung Pao Chicken or the Asian stir-fried dishes. The tall plants are quite a sight when they become absolutely loaded with 4.5-inch long, slightly curved skinny peppers that mature from green to a brilliant red. They are thin-walled for easy drying, or may be used fresh for adding inviting flavor to a dish. Peppers have about 10,000 Scoville Units, so should be eaten with care. 85 days.
Largo PurpleLargo Purple
Absolutely striking ornamental pepper plant with violet colored foliage mixed in with white and dark green. As these plants reach 2-1/2 to 3 feet tall, the effect is like that of a purple shrub. We have not seen any other ornamental peppers with such solid purple, jewel-toned foliage. It truly makes a very impressive display. Conical peppers mature to deep red and are hot.
MedusaMedusa
Narrow, twisted, 2.5-inch long peppers, stand upright above diminutive plants, in a stunning display of color- ivory to yellow, orange, and finally bright red, with all color stages appearing together. The look is intriguing and reminiscent of the “snaky” hairdo of the mythological character Medusa. Well-branched plants grow no taller than 6 to 8 inches and become literally covered with colorful peppers. Medusa is wonderful for planting in landscape borders as well as for growing in small containers. These peppers are non-pungent, making Medusa safe to plant in areas visited by children.
ChilacaChilaca
8 to 10 inch long cylindrical peppers are thin walled, and dark green ripening to dark brown. They have less than 250 Scoville units and are mainly used dried for their rich, smoky flavoring in sauces. Plants are tobacco mosaic virus resistant. 75-80 days.
